Story Summy: Hey there. I’m Ariana. I’m 22. Do you think it’s crazy that I gave a homeless guy a ride? Before I tell you about my wild night out–take a second to subscribe for more hidden wisdom stories. I hadn’t met anybody since the breakup, and my roommate, Tilda, was trying to get me to go out with her to find a guy and get coupled up. “I know how to motivate you,” she said, and she made me a bet. She said that whoever gets a date first won’t have to cook dinner for a week. She was probably right about me needing motivation, so I took the bet. Tilda asked me what my “type” was, but I didn’t have a type. I didn’t need a guy with big biceps or a ton of money. I just wanted quality, somebody who had good character and brought the best out in me. A couple weeks later, Tilda had this idea to meet guys at the hardware store. Her plan was to pretend like she’s a damsel in distress. Having trouble with plumbing or painting or whatever aisle Prince Hardware was standing in. But I said I didn’t want to wander around a hardware store, so she went by herself. The next weekend, Tilda surprised me with an extra ticket. Her favorite DJ was spinning records at this really hip club. And she was practically begging me to come. Live music was tempting, so I agreed. Tilda made me swear that I’d talk to at least one guy, but I really wasn’t in a hurry and just wanted to enjoy the music. The DJ was incredible, and I think I danced off a few pounds of sweat. Tilda kept pointing out guys, but I was just baby stepping back into the social scene. At one point, she said that she met this group of really cute guys and she wanted me to meet them. “But I’m starving,” I said. “Can’t we just go get some tacos?” Tilda couldn’t deny the power of tacos, so we made for an early night and found this taco stand on our way home. I was so starving that I ordered 6 street tacos, and just at the moment they came out and I was about to eat those two pounds back, this old bearded guy came shuffling toward us. He said he was hungry and asked if we could spare a taco– “How rude,” Tilda said. “We’re trying to eat here.” He began to shuffle away, but I stopped him. “You can have mine,” I said, and I gave him my tacos. He was incredibly grateful, and I figured I would just order more. But when I turned around, the taco stand had already closed down, and Tilda was laughing at me. “Come on, gimme some of yours,” I said, but she wouldn’t spare one single taco. “Maybe you can beg the beggar,” She said, and I was so hungry I chased after him. I explained that the shop closed before I could get anymore, and I asked him for one taco back. He said we could split them all, and I ended up having dinner with this guy. His name was Randall, and he was grateful for my generosity. But he asked me for more of it. He said he was trying to get a bus ticket, and he was wondering if I could spare anything. But I didn’t have any cash. Just plastic, I said. He told of how he was trying to get to his son who lived about three hours south of town. But before I could ask more about where he was headed, Tilda interrupted us. “OMG girl,” she said. “Those super cute guys are texting me. They’re going to an after party with the DJ and guess who’s invited?” I stopped her to ask if she had any cash for Randall, and she looked at me like I was out of my mind. I tried to explain that he needed a ride and he was trying to get to his son. But she asked if I was crazy, and then she told the homeless dude to quit bumming off others and buy his own tacos and bus tickets. I couldn’t believe how rude she was being, and I asked her what her problem was. She called me a buzzkill and said she was going to the afterparty with or without me. I was about to cave in…
